Black Star Riders nominated Best Album at Classic Rock Roll of Honour – VOTE TODAY!

Black Star Riders have been nominated as Best Album at this year’s Classic Rock Roll of Honour.

Orange Amplification Presents The Classic Rock Roll Of Honour in association with enters its ninth year and is proud to announce the first of this year’s winners: Black Sabbath as Living Legends. The biggest award of the night will be presented to the Godfathers of Heavy Metal at London’s Roundhouse on Tuesday, November 14.

Also, this year’s proceedings will be brought to a close by Suffolk’s finest glam-rockers, The Darkness. Justin and co. will wrap up the evening with their high-octane theatrical rock in front of an audience of the great and good of the music world.

Classic Rock has also announced its shortlist for the coveted reader-voted categories for this year’s Roll Of Honour, and fans can cast their all-important vote now at

Speaking in his own inimitable way about the Living Legend award, Sabbath’s Ozzy Osbourne says: “It’s good to be a living legend. It’s better than being a dead one.” Following their triumphant return to the top of the album charts with their first release with Ozzy in three-and-a-half decades, the band are being hailed by critics and fans alike. The CRROH Living Legend Award will be the icing on the cake of the Brummies’ all-conquering return. Joining Ozzy to collect the award will be fellow band members Geezer Butler and Tony Iommi.

The Living Legend Award has become one of the most highly coveted awards in the music industry. It is only ever awarded to those artists who have truly cemented their place in the rock pantheon – with past winners including ZZ Top, Jeff Beck, Alice Cooper, Jimmy Page, Lemmy and Iggy Pop. This year Ozzy Osbourne picks up his second title – he won as a solo artist in 2008 – alongside his bandmates.

Rock has hit the headlines even more this year with groundbreaking gigs and tours including the Rolling Stones returning to Hyde Park and headlining Glastonbury, Bon Jovi helping out the Spanish and European economies with cheap tickets on sale, Status Quo hitting the silver screen, Pink Floyd’s one million plays on Spotify and of course the unexpected return of David Bowie. This year’s Roll Of Honour will doubtless cause a few more headlines!

MD of Team Rock Chris Ingham says: “It’s been another amazing year for high-voltage rock’n’roll and Classic Rock is honoured to be hosting our annual awards show at the Roundhouse again. We’re delighted to welcome Black Sabbath to collect our Living Legend Award. It’s wholly deserved as not only do they have a career to celebrate, but Ozzy, Geezer and Tony blasted back with a brilliant new album in 2013 that reminded us all how it should be done. Rest assured, the Roll Of Honour will be another great night of rock’n’roll celebration and moving speeches, and will close with a live set from The Darkness that will no doubt need to be seen to be believed!”

The Classic Rock Roll Of Honour is one of the most highly respected ceremonies of the music year and always attracts the biggest names in the world of rock. Recognition at this must-attend event is the pinnacle of every musician’s career as they join the list of past winners.

This year’s awards will again be held at the legendary Roundhouse in Camden, London on Thursday November, 14

Here are few words from Ricky Warwick on the song and the lyric vid -

“I am delighted to have my good friend and amazingly talented Belfast artist Terry Bradley contribute his art to this video, which I feel sums up the lyrical content brilliantly.

This little story below inspired the song along with situations my friends, myself and history has told over the years of the wandering Irish and anyone who is far away from home and themselves !!!

The picture of the 2 gentlemen in the very daper 1930 suits in the chorus are my Grandfather and Great Grandfather, the picture of the young man in the soldier’ s uniform is also my Great Grandfather who at 14 years ( he lied about his age, you had to be 16 to fight with your parents approval, 18 if not ! ) of age ran away from Belfast to enlist in the British army, to fight in the First World War he got as far as Southampton, where he got seriously ill with pleurisy and was hospitalized and when they found out he was only 14 sent him back home to Belfast, he enlisted again in 1918 when he was 17 but by then the war was all but over!!!”
