BSR 2017 UK Tour ArtworkBlack Star Riders are hitting the road next year with a comprehensive UK tour in support of their new album ‘Heavy Fire’, set for release in early 2017.

After a full year off the road, Black Star Riders  (Ricky Warwick, Scott Gorham, Damon Johnson, Robert Crane and Jimmy DeGrasso) are back with a 16 date UK & Ireland run, joined on the first five dates by Scottish rockers Gun and The Amorettes and then Sweden’s own Backyard Babies with Gun on the remaining 11 shows.

Ricky Warwick says, “It seems like ages since we did the Leppard / Whitesnake tour so we are all really looking forward to be back out on the road with BSR.  Our third album will be out just prior to the dates so its going to be great to play tracks from that along with favorites from the first two records also.  Having my old friends from Backyard Babies, Gun and The Amorettes out with us too is just icing on the cake to make a great tour!”

The band are currently in the studio in Nashville, once again with producer Nick Raskulinecz putting the finishing touches to ‘Heavy Fire’. Scott Gorham says, “It’s great to be back with Nick, after such a great job on The Killer Instinct it was a no brainer to continue the relationship and this album is going to blow everyone away”.

Following on from their critically acclaimed albums ‘All Hell Breaks Loose’ and ‘The Killer Instinct’ which have paved the way for Black Star Riders to be recognized as a power force in the modern day of Rock n’ Roll, ‘Heavy Fire’ will be once again released by Nuclear Blast Entertainment.  The band have also brought in Pledgemusic, one of the most innovative and successful platforms of the modern music world, to give fans extra special product and experiences to go along with the album’s release.

Black Star Riders – The Killer Instinct

A few years ago, a rejuvenated lineup of Thin Lizzy hit the road, earning great acclaim thanks to longtime Lizzy guitarist Scott Gorham, singer Ricky Warwick (The Almighty), and later, co-riffer Damon Johnson (Brother Cane). When it came to recording a studio album on their own, they renamed themselves Black Star Riders and now offer up their second album. It’s a cooker. The blistering opener, “The Killer Instinct,” is right in the Thin Lizzy pocket with guitar harmonies, off-beat chord hits, and a Phil Lynott-styled delivery from Warwick (who also adds acoustic guitar here and there).

Gorham takes the guitar lead in his trademark melodic style and you’ll be pumping your fist in no time. “Finest Hour” is a radioready rocker with Johnson’s hot fret work, while “Bullet Blues” is a stomper reminiscent of the ’76 track “Rocky.” “Soldierstown” brings the classic “Emerald” to mind, but it’s all in good spirit and, surely, Black Star Riders wears its Lizzy heritage proudly. Considering that the original band’s last album was released in ’83, you have to commend BSR for keeping alive the spirit of this Irish institution. Mr. Lynott would be proud. – Pete Prown

[S]earing solos that could sizzle up the eggs needed for an Ulster Fry back in my beloved Belfast!  BLACK STAR RIDERS have outdone themselves on this record. The Killer Instinct is an album that any and every rock fan should be buying on February 24. Case closed, chapter ended, book DONE.

BLACK STAR RIDERS have genuinely mastered what a classic rock band should sound like in 2015: a little bit heavy, a lot of bit catchy and all of their songs tell interesting stories.

To single out one song would be foolish as this whole album, The Killer Instinct, just brings out the inner rocker in everyone.
